Have you ever wondered if there were things that you could do to naturally help balance your hormones? The answer to that question is YES! Our hormones are easily influenced by many things and many aspects of our daily lives. By making some simple changes to your everyday life, you can start to better support your hormone regulation. In this blog I will provide you with 5 Tips to Balance Hormones Naturally.
Consume 30g-60g of fibre daily. Fibre helps to bind up hormones and promote healthy bowel movements, which eliminate excess hormones from the body. High fibre foods include all veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds, but especially chia seeds, hemp hearts, broccoli, raspberries, avocado, beans and lentils. Don’t forget to stay well hydrated when increasing dietary fibre!
EDCs are synthetic compounds that have the ability to mimic and/or disrupt our body’s natural hormones. We are most often exposed via food packaging, personal care products, and household cleaners. Start making healthier swaps by avoiding synthetically fragranced products, ditching plastic food + beverage containers and choosing natural alternatives to cosmetics and cleaning products.
The liver is the master organ involved in processing + eliminating hormones that are no longer needed by the body. It’s a big job and the liver already has a lot to contend with besides hormones. Give your liver a hand by minimizing refined sugars + alcohol and eating more of these liver-loving foods: beets, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kale, chard, complete protein, garlic, grapefruit, green leafy veggies, turmeric, artichokes and green tea.
Vitamin D functions more like a hormone than a vitamin in the human body. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with nearly every hormone imbalance out there, which is why it is a crucial piece of the puzzle. Always have your Vitamin D levels tested before supplementing – there is such a thing as too much vitamin D and it can become toxic at high doses.
High levels of stress lead to elevated cortisol levels (our major stress hormone). High cortisol wreaks havoc on the rest of our hormones and leads to a wide range of hormone imbalances. Get serious about reducing and managing stress in your life by creating a consistent self-care routine for yourself. This can involve exercise, journaling, meditation, yoga, regular therapy sessions, regular acupuncture treatments, breathing exercises and more.
There you have it!
