Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I hope that it helps you to determine if I am the right therapist for you. I am a registered social worker who has been in the counseling field for over five years. I believe that most people, at some point in their lives, will experience feeling stuck, overwhelmed or not themselves. In many of these circumstances, speaking to a qualified professional is the best option for support.
With empathy and compassion, I support individuals to bring understanding to a wide range of challenges and psychological distress; creating new paths and direction for personal and relational understanding. Beginning therapy can be a serious undertaking. That being said, I believe that it can ultimately be an enjoyable and positive experience.
I have clinical experience in adolescent and adult psychiatry, addiction and recovery agencies, hospitals and youth centres. Currently, I hold a position at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, in the Acute Mental Health department. Along with my field experience, I have a passion for education and am part of a community teaching initiative at Laurier University, teaching students about specialized social work practices in healthcare.
I have experience and training in various evidence-based treatment modalities: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Things that you may wish to talk with me about:
Anxiety Issues – social, worrying thoughts
Depression – feelings of worthlessness, guilt, loss of interest in things, purposeless
Addictions – substance and/or behavioural
Relationships – attachment issues, relationship breakdown, difficulty relating to others
