Foot Reflexology and Indie Head Massage | Natural Choice

Foot Reflexology massage

Reflexology is a non-invasive, natural and deeply satisfying therapy. It works on the principal that there are pressure points, or “reflex points”, on the surface of the feet which, when manipulated, may help relieve tension, discomfort and pain of corresponding body parts. A unique blend of pressure, stretching and massage techniques are employed on the feet to address physical function and/or pain in soft tissues and joints throughout the body.

WHY CHOOSE REFLEXOLOGY?

– It offers a treatment option when targeted body work is uncomfortable

– Can be used to aid recovery from injury, particularly injury to the feet

– It helps ease overused, tired and achy muscles in feet and lower limbs

-Can be used to reduce pain

– Helps maintain physical function

– Promotes general relaxation

– Easy treatment to fit into your busy schedule (30 min + 45 min tx options / you remain fully clothed except for your feet and lower calves)

Risks

Reflexology is generally safe for most, but can cause some mild side effects such as soreness or tenderness in the treated area. People with foot ulcers, cuts, severe chronic illness or conditions affecting the nervous system or circulation ( varicose veins etc.) should consult a doctor before trying reflexology.

Additionally, pregnant women are strongly encouraged to consult with their doctor/obstetrician before getting any form of foot massage.

WHY CHOOSE INDIE HEAD MASSAGE?

Indie Head Massage, also known as Indian Head Massage is rooted in the origins of Ayurvedic medicine. This ancient practice was used to create harmony within ones whole self and maintain health of the body by activating marma points (similar to acupuncture points) to provide healing on a physical, mental and emotional level; as well as to hydrate the hair and scalp. Traditionally these techniques were only applied to the face and scalp while seated in an upright position.

With her Certification in Indian Head Massage, Tamara has developed her own version of this practice focusing on the muscles and connective tissue of the shoulders, neck, face, outer ear and scalp. Utilizing a blend of invigorating and soothing techniques, this experience prioritizes creating a space for deep relaxation. It can also be helpful for the treatment of: headaches/migraines, TMJ pain, sinus congestion, eye strain and the physical symptoms of anxiety and depression.

If you are coming in for this treatment it’s best to come with a freshly washed, makeup free face (if possible) and be ready to leave with oil massaged into your scalp and hair!
